The American Association of Notaries offers a simple step-by-step guide to become a notary in Arkansas. With our help, becoming an Arkansas notary is easy and hassle-free.
To become a notary public in Arkansas, make sure you meet the eligibility requirements listed above, then complete the following steps:
Arkansas requires all notary applicants to provide proof of a ten-year, $7,500 notary bond. The notary bond protects the public from a notary's errors and omissions. Click here to order a notary bond. The notary bond is available for download immediately on checkout.
Review the Arkansas notary laws to understand a notary public’s duties and responsibilities. Reviewing the Arkansas notary handbook will help you pass the notary exam. Click here to view the Arkansas Notary Public & eNotary Handbook.
Score 80% or better on a multiple-choice exam administered by the Arkansas Secretary of State. The notary exam is available at no cost to all Arkansas notary applicants.
Create an account on the Arkansas Secretary of State’s online filing portal to complete a notary application. You will be asked to upload a copy of the notary bond and exam certificate and to pay the $20 filing fee online.
Once your application is approved, download your oath of office from your account on the Arkansas Secretary of State’s online filing portal. Take the oath of office to the county clerk, who will swear you in, complete the oath of office, and return it to you.
You are not recognized as an Arkansas notary until you have mailed the completed oath of office to the Arkansas Secretary of State. The secretary of state will place you in “good standing” and issue you a certificate of commission.
At a minimum, you will need an Arkansas notary stamp to perform notarial acts. Save up to 40% on the same Arkansas notary supplies that you may find somewhere else. All our notary stamps are made in house, comply with Arkansas notary law, and come with a lifetime warranty.
