Bristol University Medical Interviews
Bristol medical interviews for 2023 entry will be taking place from December 2022 to February 2023. Interviews will be similar to the previous MMI format, but will now be taking place virtually over Zoom.
All applications are assessed based on academic record (either predicted or achieved grades) with all candidates needing to meet the minimum requirements of AAA for A-Levels (including Biology and Chemistry) and a minimum of A in Maths GCSE and C in English GCSE.
A-Level and GCSE grades are not involved in the weighting process for interview shortlisting, with 100% of weighting relying on UCAT scores. All students applying to Bristol must have sat the UCAT by October 2022, and the top-scoring applicants are invited to interview.
For the 2021 admissions cycle, Bristol received around 2770 applications, interviewed 1025 candidates, and sent out 600 offers.
There is currently no cut-off score for the UCAT and the threshold is subject to change, depending on the average score of the cohort of each year.
Additionally, Personal Statements are no longer a weighted component of Bristol’s selection criteria, though they can be used as a deciding factor should there be a situation where candidates have similar results.

How Is Bristol Interviewing For 2023 Entry Medicine?
Bristol will be holding all interviews online through Zoom using MMI-style questions. There are four assessors in total, consisting of a mix of Doctors, professors, and medical students.
The interviews are expected to last around 30 minutes, with the interviewers scoring different stations. Each assessor will mark the candidate’s responses separately and the independent scores will form an average score that contribute to the final interview score.
Candidates are asked to set up their Zoom in a quiet location and log in 15 minutes before their interview is set to start. They will then join the main meeting room with other candidates before being sent to individual breakout rooms which act as the MMI stations.
Photo ID must be shown at the start of all interviews.

Bristol interviewers want candidates to show they have a realistic understanding of what Medicine is like as a career as well as a degree.
They expect applicants to have a strong understanding of the Bristol MBBS programme, the area around Bristol and the teaching hospitals linked, as well as the teaching style they use and why this would suit you as a student.
